pmpinoy65 asked:

I’m using the wireless-G broadband ROuter WRT54G.

Friend who knows networkin and stuff said it was the best cheap one. He compared it to my old D-link and how it only has one attena and that my Linksys is more secure and all.

Question: Is he right?
What linksys router are you using?
What other routers besides linksys do you think is good?

Wireless Printing?

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007
sam asked:

Hi, I have two computers: An XP Computer and a Vista Laptop.

I have tried, and failed to set up wireless printing from my laptop, via my computer, and then to my printer, through my home wireless network (due to inadequate drivers or something?)

Anyway, I thought I would buy a new wireless printer, but they are too expensive,

So I thought maybe a wireless printer server, also too expensive

So I thought maybe there is a way to do the whole wireless printing thing through my wireless router (belkin 54g) and my printer (not wireless enabled, lexmark p915)

Is this possible? If so how do I do it?
OR
Can anyone reccommend a cheap wireles printer adapter / wireless printer

I live in the UK.
Links appreciated

I ALWAYS give ten points.

Thanks in advance!
Just thought I would add, I have set up the whole workgroup thing, and have easily managed to share files between the two computers, I have even got to the stage where I have clicked on print and waited for the page to print out via the network, but becuase of driver issues it won’t work?

S Nintendo DS Wireless not working, Help!!!?
i have pokemon emerald and i am trying to trade with a friend who has pokemon ruby, both of us are using DS’s, whenever i go to the wireless trading place in the top of the pokecenter it says my wireless adapter is not connected properly, but i am using a DS, therefor its built it… and here is the kicker, if i put in my pokemon pearl i am able to trade wireless with my friend who is using pokemon diamond… so it definatly ” is connected properly” so to speak, anyone have any ideas on wtf is wrong with it ?

i also sould say that my friend who is using ruby CAN get into the wireless trade room on DS, it does not say ” wireless adaptor not connected properly” for her, but when i try to enter the wireless trade room, it DOES say ” wireless adaptor not connected properly

Wireless Linksys Network?

Friday, November 16th, 2007
heh8me2 asked:

I have recently added a Linksys Wireless router to my wired network. The wireless router is for a Linksys WPC54G card for a laptop. I have the security setup so I have to use a pass phrase to encrypt the wireless access. Is there a way to have the router remember the pass phrase at log? Sometimes, I have to restart the computer because the profile is not displayed. I basically would like a step by step guide as to how to log on to a wireless network. Step 1 click Linksys Wireless G Notebook adaptor, Step 2 click on site survey for SSID (Changed the default name-sometimes the SSID created is not displayed, thus I have to reboot, this is why I would like to have the system permanantly recognize the pass phrase) step 3 click on desired SSID and enter passphrase. Once I am done, If I can’t save the setting for the router to remember the settings, Do I need to disable or turn off the monitor?

Linksys wireless adapter?

New MVP asked:

It goes in the PC slot on the laptop, but I want to know if I get this can I get the signal from my wireless g router, and share the same exact speed as my main computer, if I use this Linksys wireless adapter? Right now I have a network card already installed in my laptop, and its only going at speeds at 5 mbps while my main computer is going at speeds up to 15 mbps. My main computer is using the linksys wireless g router. I am thinking about getting a linksys wireless g adapter, but not sure it will have the same mbps as my main computer.
When I said 15 mbps I mean how fast the speed is. Cox cable offers these 3 1.5 mbps, 9.0 mbps, and 15.0 mbps, and I got the 15.0 mbps on my main computer, sorry that I forgot the decimal. I will ask best buy, or staples about them.

LINKSYS wireless network connection problems?

Sunday, November 11th, 2007
munkyzero asked:

My parent’s computer has Qwest DSL. My computer doesn’t have internet. My parents bought the Linksys wireless-G Broadband Router and it is hooked up to their computer. On my computer, a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter was installed. when we click on the “linksys” network and click connect, it says “waiting for the network…” and it waits and waits and then quits and then tells you at the bottom of the screen that “Windows is unable to connect to the ‘linksys’ network.” Then I clicked the “repair button and it still couldn’t connect. What’s weirder is that sometimes it says that it is connected, but I can’t surf the internet or share files and the printer, so pretty much it isn’t connected, and soon it will say it isn’t connected again. I don’t think the problem is with the router because I could do Nintendo WiFi Connection on my DS using it. Can someone please tell me how to make our computers connect?
My computers are only one room apart so there is no way it is the signal strength.
