Paul R asked: OK, I’m hoping someone can help me here. It’s a bit of a strange one, and I wouldn’t class myself as an expert but here’s the problem and what I have done:
I have a Sony Vaio and it seems that it is not refreshing the wireless networks regularly, so its failing to connect to my netgear router sometimes. The icon on my start bar will regulary display that there are no networks in range even when they are. Now I know there is’nt a problem with my netgear because it has the most up to date software on it and my PS3 connects to it no problem, first time everytime.
It has to be something to do with the wireless drivers on my laptop. I can turn my laptop of and on again and usually this reboots and it will connect to the router, but sometimes, even when my laptop goes into sleep mode, when I click the mouse to reactivate it, it won’t find or connect ato a wireless network. I can even flick the wireless switch on the laptop and it won’t recognise its off and still say there are networks within range
I have:
disabled all firewalls and re-enabled them.
Attempted to repair the wireless connection, although sometimes the wireless cannot connect to the IP address.
Attempted to update the wireless drivers, they are upto date and fine.
Checked for virus/errors that could be causing problems, nothing found.
Reconfigured the router and input the settings again, several times.
I’ve probably tried a few other things to, just can’t remember.
It’s a confusing one but I’m hoping that one of you techy geezers will have a possible answer. Appreciation shown in the usual way
