wireless router and adapters/cards?

ml88b asked:

I have been trying set up a wireless router so i can share internet between 2 desktop computers with windows XP….when i plug the wireless usb adapter into the computer that I’m trying to share internet with all i get is “signal:excellent”…but NO internet….. and another box that says something like “local area connection 2″ is unplugged….what is that connection?. (i get that on both computers) i have all cables plugged in and ive checked and rechecked to make sure everything is plugged in. do i need another usb wireless adapter? or can i get a PCI wireless card for one computer and still use the wireless adapter on the other computer? if i have to get a wireless card, does it have to be the same brand as the router and adapter i already have(both are gateway)?

by the way, the router and usb wireless adapter were bought around 4 or 5 years ago (my brother used both in college..his computer is the one I’m trying to share internet with)..will the age have an effect on anything?
how much does a PCI wireless card cost?

Dude asked:

When I connect to the router I get the normal “Linksys” and I connect to it.
But, when I look at my connections the computer says its connected to 2 routers just like this..

Linksys
Access: Local and Internet

Then, under that it shows

Unidentified network
Access: Limited Connectivity

Sometimes Linksys dissappears and I loose internet connectivity.

What’s going on?

I need to find an online retailer that sells good cat5 cable, rj45 ends (male and female). Also, the required tools would be nice (crimpers and punch down). Thanks
