Can I use a long Cat5 Ethernet wire cable with RJ45 connectors to connect my PC to a docking station?

The docking station will be in another room and I’ll use RJ45 to USB connectors to connect the docking station to the cable and on the other end to the computer. The point of all this effort is to put the very noisy computer in another room while we watch TV. The ethernet cable is already in the wall from when the house was wired for a network but it was never meant for this. What do you experts think?
