I am trying to replace my cat5 cable with a longer cat5e but when I do it does nothing. What could be wrong?

      make sure you are replacing it with the same type, as in straight-through with straight-through or crossover with crossover. Also, Cat5e can only go up to 328 ft (100m). Might you try going wireless?

      Take the old cable, hold the 2 plugs side by side
      Are thecables in the plug in the same order as each other ?

      Now do same with new cable

      If they match “contact cupplier, might have a duff cable”

      If they are NOT the same as each other (ie 1 matches plugs, 1 has diff wiring) contact supplier, apologies, see if they will swap it.

      2 plugs with same wiring = patch cable
      2 plugs with different wiring = Crossover cable
